Advent with a small boy

Chris: in the morning, we need to open to twoth drawer
Eric: Tooth drawer? what do you mean the tooth drawer? We don't have a drawer for teeth.
C: in the box, that we opened this morning, with the oneth drawer.
E: Oh, you mean the advent calendar -- one, two and three are funny, those are the first, second, and third, drawers, not oneth, twoth and threeth.
C: Oh, yes, the second drawer. Then on Saturday we will open the thr-ird drawer and on Sunday we will open the fourth drawer, and on Monday we will open the fiveth drawer -- hey! Monday is your birthday daddy! What are you turning on your birthday, are you turning 5?
E: No, i am currently 36, and on my birthday, i will turn 37.
C: (very wide eyes) WOW!

This year we broke out the advent calendar, and we've been putting M&M'd in each drawer. Chris is so excited. It's the high point of his day. I love bringing Joy to his holidays.
