Future Jobs

A few weeks ago, Chris told me he wanted to be a Firefighter when he grew up. And a Policeman. And go to Meetings, Just like Daddy. I was so proud. It take an especially brave soul to be a firefighter, or a policeman. But both?! Oh my goodness.

Last week, during a particularly painful flush, Chris asked me, "Why do I have to have flushes?" I said, because you were made special, and we have to do flushes to get the poo out. He wanted to know why? It brought tears to my eyes. But I told him, that God had special things planned for him. That I am sure, Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you," sayeth the Lord, "plans to prosper you, never to harm you." I told him this. It's Christopher's verse, God has made that clear. So I told him, God has amazing plans for him, that I know; maybe his plans are that it takes an especially strong and brave boy to be a firefighter AND a policeman. Maybe that's why.

Then tonight, while we were doing his flush, he told me, "Mommy
I want to teach other kids. I want to be the teacher. I want to be a Boy Teacher." I was proud, surprised, and asked him what kind of teacher. "I want to teach a Grade!" Like 3rd grade, or 1st grade? I want to teach in kindergarten. And I will be the Boy Teacher." Oh yes, you will be Mr. Willman! "No Mommy I will be Mr. Nyberg."

He went on quite extensively, that he will have a green crayon (instead of a red one that he has his name printed on currently) and he will have colors on his desk, and all kinds of random stuff I didn't understand, but he wants to be the male version of his own current teacher. It was so adorable. And I couldn't be prouder that he wants to get into Public Service. He would be so great at it, he's got a gift for making people smile.
