I have been waiting to write a post about Chris's first day of school until we could get the scanner working at the new house, but it hasn't happened yet, so I'll just skip the Portrait. I had Chris do a self-portrait on his first day. It was pretty cute. A stick figure with 3 fingers on each hand and toes. I'll get it up eventually.
Meanwhile, Chris loves school.
He tells me his favorite part of school is Recess. He said I was right, he really liked that one, especially the Slide. He doesn't really like to tell us much detail. Last night he told me it made him very sad to leave kindergarten. I don't really know what he likes about it, just that he likes it. He's made 1 friend, a girl, "Her name begins with an L but I can't tell you. And she has light peach hair and rides bus 11."
Yesterday he came home having learned how to spell Red, and he even learned a song about it. Of course I took Video.
It brought tears to my eyes, that he got so excited about reading, and knowing a new word. He said, "Now I can read the word Red and lots of other words, and I'll be able to read lots and lots." He was so happy. And he loves Kindergarten. Me too.
But on the other hand. We got a note from his teacher yesterday. He apparently threw a hissy when some helpers were trying to escort him in from the bus. They wanted to give him a Dart (a check mark that if you get 3, land you in the Principal's office). His teacher didn't see the trouble, just gave him a warning, and let him go. But we just got another note, that he got a Dart today, for not putting a book away, and Not listening the first time.
