Historic progress

This is a boy in Underwear. This is Huge!

Today, I took Chris to ABA Day Camp, and when I went to pick him up, he was in underwear. They told me he'd been Dry. All. Day.

And here's the big part. He peed in their potty (a new singing potty they got just for him) Twice. He told them he didn't want to get Batman wet. And he didn't. He wore one pair of underwear for them, from 9-3. That is So Huge! He still managed to get a time out for not wanting to do circle time, but I hardly cared. That just meant instead of tv quiet time when we got home, he got to go in his room...with his new toy. I brought him home, and gave him his toy. This dragon has been sitting on the fridge since the hospital. I told him I'd give it to him when he went 3 days dry, well, that quickly turned into 3 hours dry. Which he did today. Big boys who potty get dragons.

I cried. And Chris called Daddy as soon as we were in the car on the way home.
He didn't pee in the car. More progress. He told me how big boys wear underwear and go in the potty. And he told me, "First I went potty in the potty the first time, and then I did it again, and it was 2!"

I wanted to see him do it myself. So I set the alarm for 30 minutes, but he peed in his room before it was over. He still wanted to get on the potty for me. He sat there for another half an hour, determined to pee in the potty.

And he did!

And then we set the clock each time for an hour, and I put him on the potty.
And he did it. 3 times at home for me. I put in a movie for us to watch, and he moved the potty into the living room. And he was successful, and enthusiastic, and wanted to help clean up. That never happened before. It was amazing. Words cannot accurately describe the change. And when I told him how proud I was of him, he hugged me and said Thank You. It was like he 'got it'. I think he's really getting it. I'm afraid to get too excited in case it all changes, in case it was just one really good day.

This is a huge turnaround. He even got mad at us when we were readying him for bed because I wanted to put a diaper on him. He said big boys don't wear diapers. So he had a pullup. And not 20 minutes after we put him to bed, he was up wanting to go potty again. Only once though. Maybe we created a monster? But this is a monster I love.

** He even woke up this morning enthusiastic about wearing underwear and going in the potty again! And picked out underwear to wear today. I'm so Proud!!!
