Cuckoo for Cookies

Mommy is a Cookie Making Maniac! I love the holiday season, it gives me free license to make (and eat) cookies. I started by making Peanut Butter balls a couple weeks ago, but Chris has been really enjoying helping me.
Last week we made Gingerbread Cookies! My first experiment doing this. Chris had been reading all about gingerbread man stories in school, and when we were on vacation, he really enjoyed seeing the house and carousel made from gingerbread so I figured what the hey!

He enjoyed putting all the wonderful smelling ingredients inside the mixer. Really adding the ginger made it smell scrumptious!

I even let him Choose which shapes he wanted to create. He chose the Classic Gingerbread man. But when I prompted him to choose more, he chose a candy cane and Star shape.

He must be getting practice at school doing shape cutouts or something, because he actually had his own quite good form at pushing the form into the dough. Only problem came when he'd try to pick them up, and they'd get beheaded or lose a limb, some of the limbs ended up stretched way out. That was OK, obviously the 'imperfect' ones stay here for Eating...not fitting to give away, obviously. The small Stars held up the best.

Where did we get our recipe? From a hand towel my stepmother gave us last year. Worked pretty good!

Daddy helped get in on the cookie-making action. Chris helped me mix. He really gets a kick out of putting the ingredients into the mixer. Pouring cups or teaspoons is OK, but Tapping them on the side of the mixer is the Best! Daddy and Mommy teamed up to ice the Pfeffernuss cookies. We'd take turns, one person icing, and the other trying to find room on a tray, table, or counter where they could dry.

They turned out great.

We made a batch of Christmas Wreath cookies, though I think Christopher's favorite part of making them is the counting (and EATING) of Marshmallows. He did have a good time putting red hots on top of the wreaths. Though some ended up a little heavy on the hots than others, he was cute putting them on.

Last night Mommy got a green thumb from putting the wreaths together. I don't think that's what they meant by a Green Thumb.
