Meeting Little Brother

Christopher met his little brother for the first time yesterday. He sat on mommy's lap and held Samuel's little wrinkly hand. "Is Sanal" (It's Samuel). Yes, we told him, Samuel is your little brother. "Heshe sure is!" (Christopher has lately been using this generic "heshe" pronoun for males and females)

Then Christopher spotted the computer on the big swing arm that they provide in the rooms for patients to get Internet access, and thoughts of little brother flew temporarily from his mind as he declared that he "want chet my email". Was probably just as well, as the perform storm of visitors seemed to hit. For pretty much the entire day, it had been pretty quiet in our little room, and various friends and family members had called to see if it would be okay to stop by for a visit "later". "Later" apparently meant the same time to them all, at one point we had ten extra people in the room. We were tired and ready to sleep once everyone headed out, but it was very cool to see everyone, and Samuel really seemed to enjoy the attention. As Christopher was entertaining himself with the computer, Samuel got to be held and loved in turn by most of our visitors. After seeing Samuel be handed off a couple of times, Christopher asked "my turn haff Sanal?", and reached out his arms towards Samuel. Well, how could we deny a big brother's request to hold his little brother? So, we sat Christopher down and let him hold Samuel for awhile.

Christopher seems be having a fine time playing at Grandma and Grandpa's house during the day. I'm still not sure he really gets it that little brother is going to be coming home with us in a few days -- today Christopher was more interested in Aunt Teri's earrings than in Samuel.

Oh these pictures just bring tears to my eyes! The trouble these two are going to get into together! I love it!
